BCI Statewide Criminal Records for Syracuse Residents

The Utah Bureau of Criminal Identification maintains a statewide criminal history database covering all Utah jurisdictions, including Syracuse criminal court records. A BCI report is the most thorough source for a person's complete Utah criminal history because it pulls from all courts statewide. Contact BCI at bci.utah.gov/criminal-records or call 801-965-4445.

As of July 2025, BCI charges $20 per individual criminal history report. Reports include felony and misdemeanor convictions, dismissed cases, and court dispositions from all Utah courts. Syracuse residents can request a report by mail or in person at the BCI office. The report covers the person's full Utah record, not just cases filed in Davis County or Syracuse.

Expungement of Syracuse Criminal Court Records

Utah's Clean Slate law allows for automatic expungement of qualifying records without a petition, after a waiting period with no new convictions. Not every offense qualifies. More serious charges require a manual petition through the court where the case was originally filed. Learn more at cleanslateutah.org.

Syracuse residents with records that do not qualify under Clean Slate can petition for expungement through the court that handled their case. The BCI must first issue a certificate of eligibility. Visit bci.utah.gov/expungements to review eligibility and start the process. Once granted, the Syracuse criminal court records related to that case are sealed and removed from public view. They no longer show in XChange or on BCI public reports.

The Utah DOC offender search at corrections.utah.gov is a separate tool for checking on individuals currently incarcerated or under supervision by the state.
